Oliver Tabeling (born 1970 in Lucerne, growing up in Olten, Switzerland) is a pianist, composer and photographer who discovered his passion for photography at the start of the pandemic in 2020. At first exploring the streets of Basel on a daily basis, he has since expanded his work to London, Rome, San Francisco, Sofia and most recently Cairo. Drawn to the enhanced texture of black and white portraiture, Oliver seeks to elicit the character of his subjects caught in a millisecond unaware, to capture the "decisive moment" in everyday life across cultures. His work in colour offers the viewer a chance to experience the subtle addition of muted tones to the visual landscape and its inhabitants.
